Dampness

The most accurate way to check for mold is by using a testing kit. It works by testing the airflow of your carpet. Mold spores will land on the testing kit if there are any on your carpet. You can find mold testing kits at most hardware stores.
Removing mold
If you do discover mold in your carpets, you should take action immediately. Mold is toxic so be sure to use a protective mask, gloves, and goggles. There are several household cleaners you can use to get rid of mould like water with dishwashing detergent or water with bleach.
You will need to spray the solution on the affected area and allow it to sit for 20 minutes. Then, use a wet vacuum to remove excess water. That step should be done thoroughly because if any water remains, mold can continue to grow. Open a window, use a fan, and a dehumidifier to remove as much moisture from the room as possible.
